Mini Stars – Toddler Football
Mini Stars is for babies and toddlers who are just starting their football journey. Ages range from 18 months to 2.5 years (although we do have some children who join us at 15 months).
Designed around the Montessori method of learning and the Brazilian Ginga, Spanish Tiki-Taka and Dutch Coerver techniques. Little Footy Stars is the BEST possible introduction into the beautiful game of football.
We often get asked “how can toddlers play football?” Well children are able to join in with our sessions as soon as they can walk, kick and listen to instructions. Parents are expected to take part in these classes and help their child with the activities that the coaches do with them. We encourage each child to learn the basics of following instructions and all basic football skills. We learn through our experiences, which involve; group activities, running, dodging, chasing, taking turns & sharing. Most of all, we include everyone no matter their ability!

“Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn” (Benjamin Franklin)
Little Footy Stars toddler & baby football is about introducing children into the world of football and active play, giving them a positive and fun experience which we believe will “create a sporting habit for life”.
Children are taught the basics of football (dribbling, kicking, throwing & goal scoring) in a structured, play orientated environment. Each child is given the opportunity to explore their own ability level while being taught in a group setting. Learning through play
The main focus of Mini Stars is what we call learning through play. Based on self-directed activity, hands-on learning and collaborative play. Our specialist coaches use a variety of techniques which ensure children get the most out of our classes. It is proven that play is a key development tool for early years education. When combined with repetition & structure this creates an effective learning environment.
We play a number of games which require parents to run around and actively get involved in the class. However, there are also lots of games especially designed for children to develop their independence and to be able to start playing without their parent or guardian.
FUNdamentals
Mini Stars teaches the fundamentals of football in a fun and safe learning environment through a series of games using our tried and tested framework.
The primary goal of this class is to settle children into the structure of the session, while improving their confidence and attention span, develop their basic motor skills and develop a good kicking technique.
As we learn to learn, our Mini Stars experience group activities such as; sitting and standing on a line, walking, running and jumping while turn taking is all part of the Mini Stars experience. Each of our specialist games are designed to capture your child’s imagination, using role play to create a whole new world where learning is nothing but fun. Our warm up is designed to help each child follow simple instructions and interact with their coaches in the best possible play orientated environment.
All of the LFS games and activities are designed with the fun factor being the main theme, getting our Mini Stars smiling and laughing while enjoying the LFS experience to the max. All of these aspects help to build our tots confidence and make them feel inclusive as part of a team. Copying their peers, trying new movements and skills from the coaches all help build our Mini Stars physical confidence.
We encourage our Mini Stars to kick the ball with both feet, this aspect sees our toddlers become much more comfortable with a ball at their feet and aid in the mastery of the football. Practice, repeat and show the coach activities are a key part to our mini stars classes, with bags of fun, crowds of encouragement and endless patience.
Each of our mini stars is taught as an individual in a group setting, each child gaining more motor control, coordination and balance.
We teach the basics of stopping and moving with a football. As we learn the basics, we encourage children to try different techniques in controlling the football as well as dribbling with both feet. With constant positive reinforcement and not pushing to play, we ensure that our tots enjoy learning to the fullest.
With a great emphasis on developing foot-eye coordination, ensuring that our Mini Stars are more than comfortable with a football at their feet. We practice kicking stationary footballs as well as progressing onto kicking footballs while they are moving. This aspect increases our tots confidence when scoring goals, learning they don’t have to stop the football or even be near the goal before they can score. This is the first step in becoming one of the worlds best goal scorers just like Cristiano Ronaldo, Thierry Henry & Wayne Rooney.
